Podcast #21-’17: Bike Beyond- Walt Drennan

Walt Drennan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2000 at the age of 12.  After cycling across the United States twice (first with Bike & Build, then with The 4K for Cancer), Walt was inspired to put together his own cross-country ride to raise awareness, and funds, for Type 1 diabetes.  Walt has partnered with Beyond Type 1, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education and helping those living with Type 1 diabetes live well today while funding a better tomorrow, to make the Bike Beyond ride reality.  Walt is the Program Coordinator for Bike Beyond, which will begin in New York City on June 4, 2017 and conclude in San Francisco on August 11, 2017.  On the Bike Beyond ride, Walt will be part of a team of 22 riders living with Type 1 diabetes.  Walt is excited to share his love of cycling with Type 1s around the world and inspire them to live beyond their diagnosis.
